Izumi-fumoto was a samurai residential quarter since 1599. Although not many residences at that time are remained at present, their continuous low stone walls, hedges, and the gates of each residence along the streets represent its classic atmosphere.

Two old samurai residences are open for visitors. This is one of them, Takezoe Residence.

Here is the other Saisho Residence.

Some maple tree with red leaves pleased me during the walk in the district.

Some visitors or residents were walking along the street.

If you are interested in the history of the area, please visit to the History Museum which is also located in the quarter.

The most impressive exhibition for me was this life-sized figure of samurai who represents Satsuma-style archery in real fighting.

Please visit Izumi-fumoto samurai quarter.
