Spot report – Night view of Hakodate (2024-10-21)

Webmaster had a business trip to Hakodate in Hokkaido Prefecture, and visited Hakodate-yama Hill by ropeway for enjoying the night view of the city in the free time.

Access to the ropeway:

Haneda AP, Tokyo (plane 1:20) Hakodate AP (bus 0:20) Hakodate-ekimae (tram 0:07) Jujigai (walk 0:10) @

Tokyo (shinkansen 4:15) Shin-hakodate-hokuto (local train 0:23) Hakodate (walk 0:05) Hakodate-ekimae (tram 0:07) Jujigai (walk 0:10) @

I took tram from Hakodate-ekimae Sta. where my hotel was nearby to Jujigai Sta. which is the nearest station to the ropeway.

Then, I needed to walk the slope up to the ropeway station.

The ropeway takes only three minutes from the lower station to the upper station.

During the ride, the passengers already started to enjoy the view.

Now, we are on top of Hakodate-yama Hill with the altitude of 334m above sea level.

The night view was marvelous!

After enjoying the view and taking the ropeway down, I decided to have a night stroll passing some historic quarters to the hotel.

I intended to drop in at the brew pub/restaurant of local brewery Hakodate Beer on the way, but unfortunately its business hours had been over already.

Then, I needed to walk a little bit more and found a seafood restaurant still opened where I took sashimi bowl of squid and salmon roes with, of course, a glass of beer. It was very nice for ending up the day.

Hakodate has many other tourist attractions such as a morning market, Goryokaku Castle ruin, Motomach historic district, and etc. Please visit Hakodate one day!

End.
