Access: Tokyo (shinkansen 0:53) Mishima (local train 0:05) Numazu (bus 0:15 or taxi 0:10 or walk 0:25) Numazu-ko (walk 0:02) @
The main attractions here are deep-sea life and coelacanth.
There are various kinds of deep-sea life with curious forms.
Then, coelacanths!! There are five specimens. Two of them are frozen specimens!
And, many many coelacanths on the shelfs of the museum shop! Webmaster bought one.
Before or after the aquarium, you can take lunch nearby. There are some restaurant and shop streets around the aquarium.
Webmaster had tendon (a rice bowl topped with tempura) at one of the restaurants. Taste good!
If you have time, you can go up to the observatory “Byuo”. It’s five-minute walk from the aquarium. Admission was ¥100 only.
Unfortunately, Mt. Fujisan was behind of clouds.
If you have more time, you can try a short pleasure cruising for 30 minutes. The pier is only one-minute walk from the aquarium. The ticket costed ¥1,100 for adult.
Cruising with seagulls! (The observatory is seen below left.)
Mt. Fujisan finally appeared!
End.
